Youth Leadership Program

Make money while you learn leadership skills, how to make music, make films, get college references, and have fun! We plan on taking a trip to NYC this school year to visit celebrities and industry experts in your track!

What is the Leadership Program?

Peace of Art DC (POADC) is an artistic leadership program which is offered to middle and high school students that live in neighborhoods that are traumatized by gun violence in Washington, DC. We offer leadership skills (restorative justice techniques, conflict resolution skills, and ways to make wise friendship choices) and life skills (financial literacy, post-secondary education planning, and entrepreneurship training).

POADC is a safe place for our students where they can avoid gun violence and learn how to help others do the same. We also provide tutors and mentors for each student so that they excel academically as well as socially, and artistically. While in our program, students earn a stipend and, thanks to our celebrity and industry expert partners, get the opportunity to showcase their visual and performing art on a global platform.

Program Expectations & Requirements: 

In order to be considered for our program, students must: (1) fill out the application, (2) complete a virtual interview, and (3) be willing to become a Peace Ambassador. The Peace Ambassador’s commitment is as follows:

  • I will lead myself and encourage those around me to peaceful resolutions.

  • I will maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher (If you don't currently have a GPA of 2.5 or greater, we still encourage you to apply. Our staff will work with you to help you achieve academic success). 

  • I will avoid the use of illegal drugs or alcohol.

  • I will respect my parents and teachers.

  • I will not promote violence or engage in criminal activity.

  • I will respect my fellow Peace Ambassadors and POADC Staff. 

  • I will ask POADC Staff for guidance and support if I struggle with keeping my commitments
